Tonight, I went to Reading University where they had invited Dr. Chris Hewer to speak on, The Perfect Woman Gives Birth to the Spirit of God, A Muslim Light on the Infancy Narratives. The lecture was at 7.30pm, 1 December in Palmer 109. All are welcome. The Chaplains of the Church of England and the Catholic were there, I went earlier and sat near Chris to engage him into a friendly talk. I asked him why infant Jesus was taken from Israel to Egypt and he had no clue. Then, I explained to him the Parable of Prodigal son and told him the elder son was Ishmael or Arabs and the younger Isaac or the chosen people. Chosen people became unfaithful to Abraham and were kicked out into Egypt, the land of the elder son Ishmael. Egyptians were eating well but not as good a food as the chosen people when Moses took them back. He understood it but he was not showing much interest. To save him, the Catholic Cleric told him about me and he sat away from me. His lecture about Mariam was interesting and he stressed that in Quran Jesus is mentioned as the son of Mariam and Mariam was Jesus Mother. In the question time, I told him that Mariam was not Jesus Mother but a woman or a chosen medium whilst Jesus Mother was Holy Spirit. No interest. Then he stated that Mohammed was the last Prophet and the seal to the Prophets. I was lucky to ask a second question and I asked him why in the Islam of Mohammed, the people have moon and star and not Sun, the Primary Source of Light or Allah? He just waded my question away. Basically, he believed in the Church of England headed by Queen, the head of Mammon and so he knew what is written in the Books and was happy to support the Quranic views against the corrupted Jewish views in the Bible. So, he was good for nothing as you normally find them. They are without spirit dead in the letters. Dr Hewer is the St Ethelburga Fellow in Christian-Muslim Relations, has a background in Christian theology, education and Islamic Studies and has worked in the field of Muslims in Britain and Christian-Muslim relations since 1986.
