Chip Douglas came up with the lick inspired by the Beatles "I Want to Tell You" and taught it to Mike who loved it, Carol King who wrote the song to be played much slower was not to pleased with the intro or the change in the tempo when she first heard it

They may not have been playing their instruments here, but they did play on their albums. Headquarters was the first album in which they played most if not all of the music themselves. Mike and Peter were really talented musicians. :)

Yeah and the Naked Brothers Band suck. I dont believe that those kids play their own instruments at all. The only people who are real on that show are Alex and Nat. Mabey if they are a bit older then they can grow some talent. At least The Monkees did play their own instuments. They just didnt play them on the show. They started to gain more creative control of the music when Headquarters was released. Sorry for the long rant.

Well actually it was Carol Kings take on moving to the suburbs of West Orange New Jersey, She said it was the first time her and her husband Gerry Goffin had tried the suburbian experience. There house was on a street called Pleasant Valley Way.

Yes one of the best female pop albums ever released in my opinion. She wrote Pleasant Valley Sunday with a tempo to be played much slower, Chip Douglas came up with the opening riff and the outstanding arraingment. Both Micky
Chip are both on record as saying she was not pleased when she first hearad there version but she mellowed and even does Chips arraingment in concert.

I don't know the design. It was a temporary tattoo, he also had a small butterfly (I think) near his eye on his cheek.
