I don't understand. Usopp is supposed to be black? If so, they should have DRAWED him that way instead of implying he's something that he sort of looks. However, Brooke by all means is way to light for a black person, but his features don't fit a white person.
Aggh, does anyone know what to make of Usopp and Brooke. I think they are black too, but their skin is light.

In One Piece, Black people are a very light brown so it's not super black, and they can usually be identified by their type of hair (nappy headed)

I don't think Usopp is meant to be black. His Dad wasn't really and his Mum was very pale. If anything the closest he would be is mixed race.
Also I don't think Brook is black or they'd have had him play bass :D

Ok Albasta, Usopp's dad is a darker tint than his peers and has dreadlocks. I think Usopp is just mixed kind of like Barack Obama, but the thing is because of some law passed in the U.S more than a 100 years ago, that if you have even one parent that's black, then you are considered black. It doesn't even matter what else you are mixed with. Because his mom is pale white, it may explain why Usopp is a light shade of brown.

I think Oda may be trying to make each character's backstory sadder than the last. First, we found out that Luffy's hero lost an arm to save him. Then, we find out that Zoro's friend died. Then, we find out that Usopp's mother died, leaving him alone. Then, we find out that Sanji lost everyone he knew and got stuck on an island that didn't have any vegetation with a pirate. Then, we find out that Nami had to work for the people who killed her adoptive mother so that she could buy back her town.

well there was one black person that was easy recognisable, it was during the alabasta saga and zolo had to fight some huge black lady, come to think of it u can recoginize plenty of other races but there a japonese version of that race.
