Price floors are never necessary. Of course businesses aren't going to fire their min. wage employees immediately. The point is, they won't hire as many in the future.

The min. wage does not stop exploitation, b/c in this country there is very little exploitation to stop. In the free market workers get paid what their work is worth. If they aren't paid enough, they make like a tree, and find some other employer who'll pay more. When the min. wage is raised, employers are less likely to hire unskilled workers, whose work is not worth much. So a lot of unskilled, poor people can't find jobs. So the min. wage increases unemployment amongst the poor.

If you think you have a right to a certain wage, or to time-and-a-half, then you're in the wrong country, guy. Read the US constitution. All of the rights it outlines are "negative rights," meaning they're guarantees that other people can't do certain things to you (like kill you, or quarter troops in your digs). It includes no "positive rights," or entitlements. You have no more right to a min. wage than you have to a Sunday split sprinkled with gold.

I'm not saying you can't have a good wage, OR the Sunday split. But if you want those things, you'll have to work to get them. Here in the US, you've got the opportunity to succeed, to make it on your own. It's all on you. Once you're an adult, nobody owes you anything. Personal responsibility.

but i have to say people fought for a right to things like overtime and mininum wage they have earned those rights i always find it odd when a union place goes on strike and someone yells "dont like it? find another job"i think after 20 years on a job a worker has earned there keep and should not

with overtime pay like min wage it must stay a law that after 40 hrs an employer must pay you time and a half for a few reasons,
1. the company now shows a profit/increase in work load witch in turn is more money coming into a company, workers makeing products should share in that. 2. motivation to work. after 40 hrs people want more of a cut to stay productive

2 last things,
if min wage goes away MANY wages in diffrent industries will fall also COE pay i have no problem with a ceo makeing alot of money my BIG problems start when, a ceo gets a bonus or raise and workers on a line are told to take a pay cut when a company closes and a ceo gets a bonus when a min wag
e worker is not given a raise they have EARNED while a ceo gets more and more let ALL people in a company grow not just a few

force businesses to share some of the vast wealth with the people that help produce it. American businesses take in trillions of dollars every year. Is it too much to ask that they share a pittance of it with the people responsible to bringing it to them? We've all read or heard stories of executives with multi-million dollar bonuses, even with companies that lose money. A few dollars extra per hour for the poorest of the poor shouldn't hurt that much.
