A terrific songwriter like Joni Mitchell does, in my view, a better job of singing this excellent song than Judy Collins -- who sung the better-known version back in the 60s. Joni knows her song best, when to pause, how to subtly convey the feeling. What a masterpiece.

oh my god--she was so young here. i love this original, but her 2000 version from "both sides now" leaves me wrecked--the voice darker and richer; but much, much more, the emotional impact deepened from 30 more years of life and experience. no one is her equal.

First time hearing this earlier version from her. I've loved the later version from 2000. I love her deep, raspy, matured voice. It makes the song more interesting, sad and it envelopes you. Such a wonderful artist.
