kalari is a very effective as a martial art. you have to dedicate your entire life to master it. but the real promlem is something else. many of its advanced tricks are kept as secrets even today. the masters will not let you learn everying. thats why it lost its glamour.

It's very effective if your opponent will let you spread your legs down and squat. yeah I'm sure the pressure point and joint striking/locking techniques are good, but I can find this in other martial arts. Which don't try and keep it all "hush hush"

Says who? Keralites? Hindus? Pankration is one of the oldest martial arts recorded with statues, vases that are thousands of years old depicting pankration techniques. Look at Jim Arvanitis's martial art Pankration. He took Judo, Boxing, Muay Thai, Greco Roman Wrestling but resurrected the art of Pankration just by discovering statues and vases depicting pankration techniques. Boabom is the tibetan form of yoga and it's just old as Yoga.

I do not remember the name of the reporter. But i watched on tv an report on martial arts from india and in this report they say this that the roots of martial arts are in india. Sorry....do not you like hindus?

I never said I had a problem with anybody, I just said every group of people has had to develop their own martial arts, Martial arts are as old as man himself. There hundreds if not thousands of different styles that come from every group of people not just one person. The idea that all martial arts come from one place or that one nation has the most ancient form is one of the greatest lies ever told.

I agree with you that the roots of martial arts are in every place in this world. But there are different styles and of it is Kalari Martial Arts and it has it roots in yoga and yoga is very ancient like the vedic scripts of india and hinduism...... namaste

I agree each system has it's of styles, Example: Jujitsu has over 700 known styles. Just like the art of Karate(Okinawa) has alot of chinese and japanese influence. Like Kung Fu's origins can be traced back to dharma Marga and Wushu, but the style of style of wing chun was developed by a young woman who founded her own style.

The martial arts irrefutably come from India and was spread by Buddhist monks who brought it to China and beyond. For the first 1000 years the martial arts were practiced only in Buddhist temples as Chuan Fa (closed fist of the Buddhist Dharma) in China
in Japan as "Tenjiku Naranokaku" or "Indian battlefield practices"). Even the Samurai gave props to Bodhidharma as the founder. So just as Buddhism took different forms so did the martial arts which are Indian in their origin. All experts agree

Erm, saying the Bodhidharma is not from India is like saying Karate did not come from China.
In Malayalam, "bodhi" means brains, intelligect, etc. This is a common term for most languages in India. Dharma... I am not sure there is a Malayalam term for that, but in North India, dharma is duty. Bodhidharma would mean "Intelligence, duty" in most parts of India. Still think the Bodhidharma
did not get his teachings from India?

Well, the weapons they use are flexible and long. It's not possible to stab with those. It would be like trying to thread a string through a needle. Though when using short weapons, there is stabbing.
