| and this is the kind of music I do not really like because it doesn't match the spirit of hip hop; isn't gangsta rap a subdivision of hip hop itself? The problem is that this universe seems to spread a message of violence, depicting a false image of the street, that wasn't the original concept of hip hop which aimed at representing the streets through a different way. Is it because in Europe, culture is kinda different, or something? The media seem to show us what they want us to see... |

| You right though. Mainstream hip hop is 80 percent image 20 percent heart yahmean. Record companies see what sells and then they mold young brothers one after the other, one big factory of wackness. Until the entire scene is over-saturated and everything sounds the same. It's similar to the situation Hip Hop was in during the early and mid 90s. It seemed like everyone in LA and the Bay had a gangsta rap album out yahmean. Although today it seems to be more widespread, but overall the same phase. |
