This is a show tune... an entire Broadway show could be built around this one number and be a hit show... I wonder if Joel realizes this? What a songwriter... I always had fantasies of a Joel, McCartney, Harrison and Starr tour, with the first half being Joel tunes, with the other three as his back-up band, and the second half a Beatles show with Joel (gifted musical mimic that he is) doing Lennon's parts... Harrison's dead, can never happen now. Darndarndarn.

ihaterudecomments, i don't hear him trying to be italian. you might of heard his new york accent creep in a little, cause he spent a lot of time in new york, espcially brookyn. Its possible he picked up the accent.
as for the song being about mick jaggar's wife, that explains a lot, like why he keeps mimicking mick with the one hand on the hip/chicken wing thing that mick always does.
