LOVE Horace, beautiful player who wrote some wonderful modal and latinesque jazz classics. He always seemed to get the best out of his soloists. Had the honour of shaking his hand while I queued to hear/see him at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London, he got out of a car with about five shirts on coat hangers, which I thought was a little strange. During the gig, sweat was pouring off him, he was so intense...hence the shirts!

Horace Silver's compositions were always very spiritual and soulful. His songs were so melodic. He was an incredible jazz musician. You could feel a gospel element in his sound. Blue Note Records was the premier jazz label. Classic jazz lives forever.

If you saw a pianist today looking as nerdy as Horace, then heard him give an introduction as nerdy as Horace did here, you'd have him up there with THE most nerdy people of all time.... .... until u heard him play!!! Horace = THE funkiest pianist of all time (along with Herbie of course) I've
been playin and seriously studying music for more than 20 years - yet i couldnt begin to lick the shit off Art, Horace, or Hank's shoe! These guys are far, far beyond wonderful

I love watching Horace Silver because he looks like that shifty eyed hophead in "Reefer Madness". Blue Mitchell is fantastic as always. Silver is one of the few, true jazz pioneers.
